On why he did not want his brother Rohit to become an actor:
There was a time when I never wanted my brother Rohit to become an actor, because I was struggling. Because I knew that this job keeps changing. And finding a job or a role one after the other was very difficult, and I never wanted my brother to be going through all that! But once he became an actor and started getting good roles, I was at ease. Manasi (Joshi Roy, Rohit's wife) also has a fantastic career, and so has Sharman (Joshi, Manasi's brother).
On perks and minuses of having a family full of actors or from the same industry:
Honestly, I have never given it a thought, hai toh hai! There is nothing like perks for being from the industry and having your family also from the industry, because I know actors who have been the pillars of the industry and their kids aren’t even accepted as actors. Yes, we do get a ready platter, but what does one do with the ready platter, because it doesn’t end there. Good work takes you places, not being associated with a film family. It is the audience that decides who stays! There is no success guaranteed!
On what happens during family gatherings:
We, as a family, whenever we meet, we don’t sit down and discuss work. It will be just a passing mention. But then, there are days when we indulge in work talk, and then one night doesn't seem enough. Rohit and I haven’t interfered in each other’s work in all these years. And plus, we both did not seek advice, fortunately we are mature enough to take up projects that are serious and genuine.
